Frequently Asked Questions
Most people experience little to no pain during acupuncture. The needles are extremely fine, much thinner than a hypodermic needle. You might feel a mild pressure, dull ache, or tingling sensation when the needle is inserted, which usually subsides quickly. Many patients find the experience deeply relaxing.
The number of sessions varies greatly depending on your condition, its severity, and how your body responds to treatment. For acute conditions, a few sessions might be sufficient. Chronic issues often require a longer course of treatment. We’ll discuss a personalized treatment plan and estimated duration during your initial consultation.
Your first session will typically involve a detailed consultation where your practitioner will ask about your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. This helps them understand your overall health from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective. After the consultation, you’ll lie comfortably while fine needles are gently inserted into specific points. The needles usually remain in place for 20-30 minutes, during which you can relax.
